All the local meteorologists predicted 2-12 inches of snow this weekend. I thought that if I was going to be snowed in, what better way to use the “snow day” than decorate cookies? Watching the snow fall, as I decorated cookies with my kids, seemed like an ideal way to spend the day.
Well, the snow came. In the form of millimeters, not inches. We woke up hoping to see a winter wonderland, but instead saw a winter dusting. That’s okay. The kids played outside in it anyway, bringing in handfuls of snow for us to keep in the freezer.
I still made the cookies with the kids, checking my phone every 10 minutes to see if, or when, the snow was going to fall. “I see a flake!” they cried. Sigh…this year’s snow just wasn’t meant to be. (The eastern part of the city did get snow, but about an inch or two. I’m not jealous or anything.)
These cookies were fun to make, and four different colors was the perfect amount. The kids enjoyed pouring on the icing and watching it flood outside the cookie. I did manage to teach them how to swirl icing to form hearts, so it’s at least a start. (Even my hubby decorated two.) I wish you a great Valentine’s Day! Happy baking! xoxo
