Baby Shower Sugar Cookies

March 3, 2011 in cookies - 3 Comments - 2 min read

It was my friend Alonna’s baby shower this past Saturday.  I was asked to make favors (I was so honored!) and decided to make cute baby-inspired lemon sugar cookies.  Her baby room theme was “unofficially” jungle  (as she called it) and I used this background paper as my inspiration.

When I was beginning to pipe these animals onto the onseies, I thought that the lion was going to be the easiest one to do, but he was actually the hardest.  I am not entirely pleased with the lions, but for my first time piping any type of animal, they turned out pretty good.

So here is the lion:

And the elephant:

And the giraffe:

And then just some more pictures of the three:

And I also made some baby carriages, because baby carriages are just so darn cute.  These were so much fun to pipe and decorate.

Up close and personal:

Last but not least, the baby bottles:

Here they all are drying.  I only needed to make about 20 cookies, but I ended up making about 45 when all was said and done (including my husband eating a few).  Haha.

I had to practice on a couple of extra cookies, so I knew how to pipe the animals on.  Can you see it among the others?

And here is the bottle my husband decorated.  He said it was very cathartic, which it is, unless you’re having a bad day and nothing is looking how you’d like.  Not too shabby for his first time piping!  I can see all the numbers as well as his creativity with the triangle, square, and circle.  I will let him practice anytime he likes.

I put each cookie in a cellophane bag and tied it with a brown ribbon.  I just wish I remembered to take pictures of the food table at the shower!  Oh well, next baby shower.

Thanks to all who helped put on the shower for Alonna, especially Natalie for all her hard work in hosting.  And Alonna, I pray everything goes well with your new baby boy.  I am so excited for you!

These look great! I love the elephant the most. And now that you have Eric decorating, next time you can fly through them ;)
