Super Bowl Party

February 11, 2011 in cookies - 6 Comments - 2 min read

Well, the Super Bowl was almost a week ago, and this post was supposed to be up by Monday.  My husband’s birthday was Wednesday, and this post was supposed to be up by Monday.  My sister asked me to post the desserts I made for the Super Bowl/Eric’s 29th birthday party, and the pictures were supposed to be up by Monday.  But have no fear!  The pictures and the stories are now here.  I decided to make some chili, cornbread, and an assortment of desserts for our family and Eric’s (and mine!) good friends.  (I should have taken pictures of the chili and cornbread, because those were SUPER good too.  But sadly, they are only pictures of cookies and cupcakes.  I didn’t even take a picture of the birthday boy! Akk!  Or the guests!  Double akk!)

Anyway, here is the dessert table.

My winter-snowman-drinking-hot-cocoa table runner is still up, I love it!  Here is a close up of the football sugar cookies I made.  I chose not to make Steelers or Packers jerseys and helmets because I didn’t care who won the game.  I live on the west coast, and I root for the 49ers, and they haven’t been in the Super Bowl since, since…well that is for another day.

I also made presents and numbers 2 and 9 because it was a low-key birthday party and Eric was celebrating his last year in his 20s.  (Young guy!)  I tried to have more “boyish” colors for him.  However, I was a little nervous about the burgundy color I used.  It started out looking dark pink!  But I think the color settled down, and I like it a lot.

Lastly, I made some lemon cupcakes, one of Eric’s favorite.  (Actually, anything with lemon in it is Eric’s favorite.)

We had very little left over, including the chili and cornbread, which is always a good thing.  Thanks to our friends for coming over, the NFL for creating a Super Bowl, and my in-laws, for having and raising an amazing son.

Yes it is. It’s the birthday gift certificate you bought for me. :)
