70th Birthday Cookies

April 3, 2025 in cookies - No Comments - 1 min read

My mom turned 70 this past February and it pained me that I was not able to celebrate with her in person. When she turned 60, my dad and I put on a surprise birthday party for her and it was so much fun! We moved across the country in 2020, so the next best thing to being in person to celebrate was to send her cookies to celebrate. She loves purple and flowers, so I tried to incorporate that in a cookie set for her.

Flowers are always fun to make, but these cute little birds captured my heart!

For the 70, I used a wet-on-wet technique and then when dried, traced over the flowers with an edible pen.

The birthday plaque was a simple stencil with some flower shapes I cut out using edible paper. Then I dry dusted them with edible paint powder and used edible glue to affix.

I always get nervous when shipping cookies, as the postal service isn’t as gentle as I wish they were (even when labeling the box FRAGILE), but only one cookie broke out of the dozen I sent her. I’ll take that as a win. Happy birthday mom! Love you!
